SPEECH AND COMMUNICATION STUDIO

SPEECH and COMMUNICATION TRAINING:
Whether you want to develop confidence, improve your communication skills, participate in public speaking or debating, speech and communication training will help you achieve those goals in a supportive and stimulating environment.

The classes will be challenging with an aim to develop critical, independent thinkers.

The focus of the classes:

  • Understanding how breath, resonance and articulation contribute to an interesting unique voice.
  • Detailed preparation of poetry, prose, script, characterisation.
  • Learn how to analyse script and literature for performance.

Classes are either individual or small groups (all by appointment)

Many of the students who attend these classes participate in the Eisteddfod, AMEB, or Trinity College exams.

Cairns And District Junior Eisteddfod

Each year, the Cairns and District Junior Eisteddfod is held in June.

Many N-QADA students successfully participate in the various speech and drama sections, from nursery rhymes to Shakespeare.

While many people are ambivalent about their children in competitions, the Eisteddfod is an opportunity to catch up with friends, learn to deal with nerves in healthy competition and a way to gauge their own progress each year they compete.

Entries are now open for 2017

Speech and Drama Exams

In contrast to the Eisteddfod, the speech exams are not competitive. They are definitely challenging and demand the best preparation from each student.

Students begin participating in the exams from Grade 5 – Grade 10 or Grade 11 (Level 5 in AMEB or Trinity College results will be entered on the Senior Certificate) .

There is a clear benefit from Exams, as each student is responsible for presenting their own programme. They then need to analyse and justify the choices that were made about the programme, as questions will come from the Examiner and the group.

Entries for AMEB Exams are required in May of each year.
